11-18-10 Arrest for False 911 Call

Boise, Nov. 18, 2010 - Boise Police arrested a man this afternoon after he allegedly made a call to 911 claiming a man with a gun was on the grounds of an elementary school.

Arrested: James D. Nafus, 42, Boise ISC 18-6711A

    Charge: False 911 call (m)

What Happened:Boise Police dispatch received a call at approx 11:30 a.m. this morning from a male caller claiming a man with a gun was on the school grounds of an elementary school southwest of Curtis & Overland. The caller specified the man was near the school buses, then hung up.

Because of the potential seriousness of the call, several Boise Police officers responded to the school grounds immediately. Officers searched the area thoroughly, including in and outside the school. They found no one with a weapon, nor anyone in the area who had seen a man with a gun.

Witnesses were able to provide officers with information that the man who may have called 911 lived in a home nearby. Officers followed up and found evidence the suspect, Nefus, had made the false statement to 911. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail.
