10-10-10 Officers investigate reported sexual assault under Capitol bridge

    UPDATE: Oct. 11, 2010 - Boise Police continue to investigate a reported sexual assault that occurred under the CApitol bridge on the greenbelt early yesterday morning. The report came into Boise Police shortly after noon Sunday. The attack reportedly occurred sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

    Detectives have additional information to alert the public as to the suspects description. 

    Updated suspect description:a light skinned adult male, 40 - 50 years old with short hair and a full beard, a "boney" facial appearance with "sunken" eyes. He was wearing a black winter coat. 

   Boise, Oct. 10, 2010 - 9:45 p.m. Boise Police are investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred beneath the Capitol Blvd. Bridge sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 3 :00 a.m. this morning.

 
   The victim, an adult female, tells officers she was walking alone under the bridge when she was approached by a man and assaulted.
 
   The suspect is described as a light skinned adult male, 40 - 50 years old with short hair and a full beard.
 

   Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS, or log onto www.343cops.com, or text CRIMES or 274637, subject: Tip236. A citizen can remain anonymous. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered by Crime Stoppers for information leading to the arrest of a criminal suspects

   Additional Info:Because the sexual assault was reported very near the campus of Boise State University, the following e-mail was sent to the campus community. Please note some of the details are updated in the above BPD release: THE SUSPECTS AGE 40 - 50 AND THE TIME OF THE REPORTED ATTACK, BETWEEN 12:30 AND 3:00 A.M. ARE UPDATED IN THE BPD RELEASE. TIME WARNING, SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR CAMPUS COMMUNITY
 

On Oct. 10, 2010, the Boise Police Department received a report of a sexual assault on the Greenbelt under the Capitol Boulevard bridge between *1-3 a.m. on Sunday. The female victim described the attacker as a Caucasian male, *30-40  years old, wearing dark clothing. The male was reported to have short dark hair and a full thick beard. This matter is being investigated by the Boise Police Department. 

We encourage anyone with information about this incident or any other possible crimes on or near campus to report it to the University Security/Police Police Department Substation at (208) 426-1453. Individuals can also report anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling (208) 343-COPS.
