  Warrant Arrested: Jorge A. Baird, 27, Boise

  Warrant Charges:Homicide (F)

    Boise Police working on a citizen tip located the suspect, Baird, driving a vehicle at Maple Grove and Overland. Officers activated emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the vehicle near Fairview and Maple Grove. The vehicle took off at a high rate of speed traveling North and turned East on Goddard with officers in pursuit. Officers placed stop-sticks at Goddard and Glenwood. The suspect vehicle ran over the spikes and came to a stop at Mountain View and Ustick. The suspect was taken into custody at that point without incident. At one point during the pursuit the suspect threw a handgun out the window of the moving vehicle and it has been recovered.

    Boise Police would like to thank the many citizens who called police over the weekend with tips that eventually led to the capture of the subject. "The partnership between the public and the department is what helps keep our communities safer in the long run." Says Boise Police Lieutenant Alan Cavener.

Arrest Warrant issued for suspect in last nights fatal shooting

   Wanted: Jorge A. Baird, 27, Boise

Warrant Charges:Homicide (F)

    What happened: At approximately 12:07 a.m. this morning (October 23rd) just after midnight Boise Police received a report of shots fired from neighbors at a residence on the 200 block of Jackson street. Witnesses tell police the victim and the suspect, who are known to each other, became involved in an altercation at the home. At one point witnesses say the suspect shot the victim inside the residence. Detectives have evidence that indicates drugs may have been involved in this incident. The suspect then fled the scene in a Beige colored Nissan Pathfinder.


The victim of the shooting, an adult male, was transported with wounds to a local hospital where he later died.


    Boise Police spotted the vehicle at Shoreline and Americana and a short pursuit took place. Due to the suspects erratic and dangerous driving, officers lost sight of the vehicle as it traveled Westbound on Hill Road from Collister.


    The vehicle was recovered later this morning abandoned near 36th and Hill Road. A perimeter was establish and a search for the suspect in the area of Hill Road and Collister took place. Residents in the area were notified of the intense police search involving multiple agencies and officers advised people to use caution in the immediate area. At approximately 9:00 a.m. the area search concluded. The suspect was not located.


    At this time a warrant has been issued for the suspects arrest in connection with the shooting.
