07-12-10 Overnight Vandalism spree; you can help

Boise Police are asking for the public's help in catching whoever is responsible for a weekend vandalism spree in a southwest Boise neighborhood.

"This is one of the worst cases of malicious vandalism that I have ever seen. This is a serious crime and we need to hold the person or people who did this accountable for their actions." says Boise Police Officer Lance Nickerson.

What happened:Some time early this morning (July 12th) between the hours of midnight and 6:00 a.m. an unknown person or persons, used silver and red spray paint to vandalise a neighborhood. The suspect sprayed curse words and rude phrases on vehicles, mailboxes, houses, trailers and street signs on west Mossy Cup and west Chinkapin Avenue, near west Victory between Maple Grove and Five Mile. At this time officers have identified approximately 20 homes and more than a dozen vehicles that have been vandalised. Officer say the vandalism does not seem to target any particular individual or group.

You can help:If you have any information that may help, if you saw anything out of the ordinary or a vehicle that seemed suspicious in the area last night, you are urged to contact police through non-emergency dispatch. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS (2677) or text your tip to CRIMES (274637) or submit your crime tips online at www.343cops.com. You may remain anonymous and you could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if your information leads to arrests and felony charges.
