Fishy mishap provides meals for critters and anglers!
Boise June 10th 2010 -The Boise
Police Association hit a snag yesterday as they transported
hundreds of fish from Hagerman to McDevitt pond for the annual free
fishing event. The Boise Police Association raised enough money to
purchase about 400-500 extra large trout in the pond this year with
money raised at the BPA annual fishing tournament. Unfortunately,
as the transport vehicle was driven from Hagerman, a kink in the
oxygen supply line formed, killing the majority of the large fish
before they arrived yesterday around 6:00 p.m. at McDevitt
Fortunately there is a happy ending! As
volunteers arrived at McDevitt pond there was a large crowd on hand
to help and witness the stocking. Many of the fresh fish that had
perished on the trip were handed to anglers. The remaining fish
that did not survive the trip were delivered to the Boise Zoo to
become fresh dinner for hungry critters!
In addition, right now, Boise Police
Association volunteers are on their way back from Hagerman with
another truck full of extra large trout! The trucks are expected to
arrive this afternoon to be dumped into McDevitt pond, in time to
increase the odds for anglers this weekend! You are again invited
to attend this annual visual event as we prepare the pond for
