Crime Stoppers Tips help Officers Make Arrest in Wallet Theft

03-17-10 Crime Stoppers Tips help Officers Make Arrest in Wallet Theft

Boise, March 17, 2010 - Thanks to several citizen tips to Crime Stoppers, Boise Police have arrested a woman and charged her with Grand Theft in connection with the theft of a wallet stolen from a Fariview Ave. grocery store.

The theft occurred February 24th. The victim, an gentleman in his late 80's, left the wallet on a counter while bagging his items. When he went to pick up the wallet, it was gone. The wallet contained several hundred dollars in cash as well as credit cards. Boise Police, working with store security, released to the public and media a photo of the woman who was behind the victim in line at the store (see release dated March 9, 2010 at www.boisepolice.org). Following the release of the photo, several calls to Crime Stoppers helped detectives identify the woman. Evidence gathered by detectives linked her to the crime and she was arrested this morning.

"It's these types of property crimes that can have a real impact on how people feel about the safety of their neighborhood," said Det. Brad Thorne of the Boise PD Property Crimes Unit. "We're very happy citizens helped us out in identifying this woman who we now believe is responsible for this crime."

   Arrested: Christine Abrams, 47. Boise

   Charge: Grand Theft (F)

The grand theft charge stems from the theft of credit cards inside the stolen wallet. Boise Police have not yet located the wallet or it's contents.

Again, Boise Police Detectives want to thank citizens, media and Crime Stoppers for assistance on this case.
