Boise, Feb 16, 2010 - Boise Police are still investigating why a driver drifted into oncoming traffic on Curtis Rd. just south of Franklin last night. The car then hit a power pole. The driver, a man in his 30's from Boise died at the scene.

What Happened: Boise Police were called to respond by another driver who apparently witnessed the crash that occurred approx 8:09 p.m. on Curtis Rd at Anna Street.

Witnesses say the driver of a red Subaru was traveling north on Curtis when he drifted into oncoming traffic. One motorist headed south on Curtis tells officers they had to swerve to miss the Subaru. The Subaru continued through the oncoming lanes and hit a power pole.

The driver of the Subaru was not wearing a seat belt. Officers on scene say it appears the combination of the collision and no seat belt caused, what appeared to be serious head injuries to the driver. The driver died on scene. He was the only person in the car.

The Boise Police Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the incident and is still investigating. Officers did note there were no skidmarks visible in the roadway before the Subaru hit the power pole.

The Ada County Coroner is also assisting in the investigation. The Coroner will release the name of the driver after notification of family.
