Very brief joyride leads to felony charges; Overnight arrests

------------------

Arrested: Taras V. Goretoy, 18, Meridian

   Charges:Attempted Grand Theft (F), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana)(m), Minor consumption(m)

Boise Police responded to a report of a trespasser early this morning (January 14th) just after midnight at a commercial transfer facility on the 100 block of North Curtis. A security guard tells police he found the suspect inside of a tractor trailer cab and detained him. Evidence, including skid marks on the ground, indicates the tractor had been driven approximately 15 feet, dragging the rear wheels because the suspect had failed to release the air-brakes. Officers located a baggie of marijuana belonging to the suspect on the ground near the vehicle and noticed the strong odor of alcohol on the suspects breath. A portable alcosensor determined the suspect had been drinking, resulting in the minor consumption charge. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

Arrested: Sean M. Regan, 35, Boise

    Charges:Possession of a Controlled substance (Meth)(F)

Arrested: Heather L. Nelson, 29, No Known Address

    Charges:Possession of a Controlled substance (Meth)(F)

Boise Police on patrol yesterday (January 13th) at approximately 11:00 p.m. observed a vehicle fail to come to a stop before entering the roadway on Ustick. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. As officers contacted the driver, Sean Regan, a Boise Police K-9 alerted on the vehicle indicating the likely presence of drugs. A search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of Meth and a used syringe. The suspects were booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

Arrested: Matthew S. Peters, 23, Boise

   Charges:Malicious Injury to Property (F)

Boise Police responded to a report of a vandalism early this morning (January 14th) at approximately 3:00 a.m. at a store on the 100 block of North 8th Street. As officers responded to the scene a citizen gave a description and direction of travel to officers. The suspect was located in an alley between Idaho and Bannock. Witnesses tell officers the suspect had struck the large glass front window of the business before running away. The replacement cost of the large window is expected to exceed $1000. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

----------------

Arrested: Harley M. Jackson, 66, No Known Address (transient)

Charges:Failure to Register as a Sex Offender (F)

Boise Police came into contact with the suspect when he flagged them down for directions late last night (January 13th) at approximately 11:32 p.m. on the street at 10th and Bannock. The suspect, who appeared to be very intoxicated at the time, was identified by officers as a known sex offender who had recently traveled to Idaho from New Mexico. The check with records verified that the suspect had failed to register with the Ada County Sheriffs Office. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.
