    Arrested: James H. Murray, 33, Boise

    Charges:Possession of a Controlled substance (Marijuana)(F), Probation violation charges

    Boise Police on patrol yesterday (January 14th) at approximately 7:00 p.m. received a citizen call of suspicious activity in a parking lot on the 1600 block of South Vista. Officers located the vehicle parked on the far side of the parking lot and contacted the driver. As officers talked to the man, they noticed the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The patrolmen saw a bag of marijuana in plain sight on the seat next to the suspect. A search of the vehicle revealed several bags of marijuana totaling 145 grams in all. Officers determined through dispatch that the suspect had an outstanding warrant for parole violation.

   During the investigation, the suspect gave written consent to search his residence on the 2500 block of South Virginia. At the home, officers recovered a total of roughly 2 pounds of marijuana in various packages and locations. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

    Boise Police say this is a perfect example of citizen involvement making a difference. Reporting something suspicious taking place in your neighborhood is the kind of citizen help officers need to keep our neighborhoods safe.    Arrested: Cholena A. Steele, 25, Boise

    Charges: Injury to a child (F),

    Boise Police received a call of an adult striking a child yesterday (January 14th) at approximately 6:30 p.m. at a home in a neighborhood West of Broadway. Witnesses tell police the suspect struck a child under the age of 5, knocking the boy to the ground. The suspect and the victim are well known to each other. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges. The child was turned over to the custody of State Health and Welfare.

    Arrested: Robyn S. Hammer, 52, Boise

    Charges:Driving Under the Influence (DUI)(F)

  Boise Police observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign and fail to signal the turn last night (January 14th) at approximately 6:00 p.m. Officers stopped the driver at Williamsburg and Bergeson. The suspect, who appeared to be very intoxicated at the time, failed several field sobriety tests and blew a .20/.19 at the Ada County Jail. A check through Ada County records indicated the suspect had 2 prior convictions for DUI making this charge a felony. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

    Arrested: Mary N. Schultz, 22, Boise

    Charges:Burglary (F)

  Boise Police arrested Mary Schultz yesterday (January 14th) after a detailed investigation into a shoplifting case that had taken place on January 10th of this year at a retail store on the 5200 block of West Franklin. Evidence indicates the suspect had entered the store and taken several DVD's without paying for them. Officers believe the suspect entered the store with the intent to commit the theft resulting in the burglary charge. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges. The Boise Police Organized Retail Crime Unit has developed a positive, productive working relationship with loss prevention agents from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal of the BPD Organized Retail Crime Unit is to work with retailers to reduce theft and fraud, crimes that can impact consumer prices.

   Warrant Arrested: Tracy L. Rasmussen, 47, Boise (Male)

   Warrant Charges:Burglary (F)

The suspect was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant for burglary yesterday.

The arrest warrant stems from an ongoing investigation into a fraudulent return scam. Evidence indicates the suspect would return an imitation electronic device to the store and receive a genuine device in return. That investigative information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrant.

   Warrant Arrested: Jason R. Kesler, 30, Boise

   Warrant Charges:Forgery (F)

The suspect was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant for forgery yesterday.

The arrest warrant stems from an ongoing investigation into stolen identifying information that evidence indicates the suspect used to obtain fraudulent credit cards. The suspect then used those credit cards to make numerous fraudulent charges. That investigative information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrant.

   Warrant Arrested: Lucus D. Persons, 23, Boise

   Warrant Charges:Insuficient Funds Checks (F)

The suspect was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant for writing checks with insuficeint funds yesterday.

The arrest warrant stems from an ongoing investigation into the issuing of checks on an account without funds. Evidence indicates the suspect worked with the people he issued the checks to, splitting the money when they cashed the checks at local businesses. That investigative information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrant.
