Fund for Fallen Lakewood Officers
Dec. 2, 2009 - Members of the Boise Police Department have set up a fund to allow fellow officers, emergency service workers, and all members of our community to assist the families of four fallen police officers from the city of Lakewood, Washington, killed in an ambush recently in Pierce County, south of Seattle.
"We understand no amount of money will bring these officers back to their families, but we will do what we can to help those families know the service and sacrifice of their loved ones is recognized, appreciated, and will be remembered." said Boise Chief of Police Michael Masterson.
"The families grief is unimaginable, and our thoughts and prayers go to the loved ones left behind by the deceased officers, including the officer's nine children." said Captain Pete Ritter of the Boise Police Bench Patrol Division.
As a show of support for the officer's families, Boise Police will send a two person Honor Guard and two motorcycle escort officers to the memorial service scheduled for next Tuesday in the Tacoma Dome.
Fallen Lakewood Officers Fund - Boise PD has set up a special bank account under the name "Fallen Lakewood Officers Fund" at Bank of the West, Emerald-Maple Grove branch.
