09-21-09 Weekend Felony Arrests of Note

     Weekend Felony Arrests of Note in the City of Boise

    Arrested: Marcus D. Baker, 30, Meridian

    Charges: Driving Under the Influence (F), 2 counts of Battery on a Police Officer (F), Driving Without Privileges (m), Invalid Drivers License (m), Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer (m).

    Boise Police officers observed a vehicle turn north on Hampton from Fairview early Monday morning (September 21st) at approximately 2:25 a.m. As the vehicle made the turn, it drove off the road and then swerved back. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle that eventually came to a stop on Granger. The driver, later identified as Marcus Donte, exited the vehicle and looked directly at the Police Officers, before fleeing on foot. The suspect was located 4 blocks from the original stop on Dove Street. Officers noted a distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage on the suspect, who refused to perform field sobriety tests. The suspect was transported to the Ada County jail were he refused to submit to a breath test. As officers assisted a paramedic in obtaining a blood sample, the suspect kicked and fought with them. Officers later determined the suspect had two prior convictions for DUI in Idaho, making this DUI charge a felony. The suspect currently has a suspended license in the state of Idaho. He was booked on the above listed charges.

    Arrested: Gabriel Torres, 25, Caldwell

    Charges: Battery on a Police Officer (F), Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer (m), Disturbing the Peace (m)

    Boise Police officers on foot at the 500 block of Main Street observed the suspect attempt to strike a security guard early Sunday morning (September 20th) at approximately 1:00 a.m. Officers identified themselves before attempting to take the suspect into custody for disturbing the peace. The suspect, later identified as Gabriel Torres, looked at the officers over his shoulder and then began to fight. At one point the suspect used the back of his head to strike a Boise Police officer in the nose and refused to stop physically resisting. During the transport to the jail, the suspect attempted to kick the window out of the police cruiser. Officers had to place him in leg restraints before continuing. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

    Arrested: Adrian B. Martinez, 18, Nampa

    Charges: Burglary (F), Robbery (F)

    Boise Police were dispatched to a report of a shoplifter at a retail store on the 300 block of North Milwaukee Saturday (September 19th) at approximately 6:30 p.m. Loss prevention employees tell police they observed the suspect conceal goods, and then leave without paying for them. As the loss prevention employees attempted to detain the suspect, he fought with them inflicting several minor injuries. Boise Police believe the suspect entered the store with the intent to commit the theft, resulting in the burglary charge. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

    Arrested: Steven F. Blake, 52, Boise

    Charges: False Impersonation of a Police Officer (F), Disorderly Conduct (m)

    Boise Police officers were flagged down by citizens early Sunday morning (September 20th) on the 4700 block of West Willow Lane. Witnesses tell police that they observed the suspect looking into several cars and attempting to open the vehicles. Witnesses indicate that the suspect had even gone onto neighbor's private property to search their vehicles. At the time, the suspect was carrying a large metal flashlight that he was using to visually search the cars. One witness tells police that she approached the suspicious man and confronted him about the odd behavior. She says that the suspect told her he was a Boise Police Officer who was under cover and that it was his job to search the cars. The suspect appeared to be intoxicated as Officers questioned him about the incident. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

    Charges: Possession of a controlled substance (Cocaine) (F), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Prescription Medications) (F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m), Frequenting a Place Where Drugs are Used/Sold (m)

    Arrested: Marlys K. Hendricks, 47, Boise

    Charges: Possession of a controlled substance (Marijuana) (m), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m), Frequenting a Place Where Drugs are Used/Sold (m)

    Arrested: James M. Colacino, 61, Boise

    Charges: Possession of a controlled substance (Marijuana) (m)

    Boise Police on bike patrol in Camels Back Park observed three suspects leave the established path Sunday afternoon (September 20th) at approximately 4:20 p.m. The Officer suspected that one or more of the individuals may have been going to urinate in the tall bushes, even though there were portable bathrooms 50 feet away. When the Officer approached the group, he observed James Colacino holding a marijuana pipe and a small amount of the drug. During the course of the investigation police found that all 3 suspects had been involved in the use of drugs at the location. Officers eventually recovered several prescription pills and a small perfume container holding a small amount of cocaine inside of it. Police also recovered a plastic container with a small amount of marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia from the suspects. All 3 suspects were transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

    Arrested: Chance N. Phipps, 23, Transient

    Charges:  Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth) (F), Public Fighting (Boise City Code) (m)

    Arrested: Steven C. Seaman, 38, Transient

    Charges:  Public Fighting (Boise City Code) (m)

    Boise Police officers were dispatched to a problem subject early this morning (September 21st) at approximately 4:30 a.m. at a transit station on the corner of 13th and Bannock streets. Officers saw two men fighting as they arrived on scene and recovered a small baggie of Meth from one of the suspects. Officers are unable to determine what may have started the fight. Both of the men were transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

    Arrested: Kenneth B. Norstadt, 53, Boise

    Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth) (F)

    Boise Police observed a vehicle travelling on the wrong side of the road eastbound on State Street early Sunday morning (September 20th) just after midnight. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it turned eastbound on Almeda before turning southbound on Stillson. The vehicle then came to a stop. As officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle, the passenger was seen reaching below the console in what appeared to be an attempt to hide something. During a voluntary search of the passenger, officers recovered two clear plastic bags containing a small amount of Meth. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges. The driver was not charged with anything.

    Arrested: Jose A. Macha, 51, Boise

    Charges: Burglary (F)

    Boise Police observed a man standing in the alley behind a convenience store on the 2300 block of Main Street Friday evening (September 18th) at approximately 9:15 p.m. At the time, the man appeared to be holding himself in the area of his groin in an attempt to urinate. As officers made contact with the suspect, they determined that he had instead been attempting to hide a can of beer stuffed down his pants. After contacting employees of the convenience store, officers determined the beer had been stolen moments earlier. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

    Arrested: Robert H. Hardisty, 48, Meridian

    Charges: Driving Under the Influence (F)

    Boise Police observed a vehicle swerving within its lane westbound on Fairview Sunday (September 20th) just after midnight. Officers noted the distinctive odor of an alcoholic beverage on or about the suspect's person when they made contact with the driver. The suspect spoke with slurred speech and failed several field sobriety tests. At the jail, the suspect blew a .15/.15. Officers determined the suspect had two prior convictions for DUI in Idaho making this a Felony. He was booked on the above listed charges.
