08-11-09 Couple's Death a Homicide - Suicide
   Boise, Aug. 11, 2009 - Boise Police are investigating the deaths of an elderly Boise couple as a homicide - suicide.
   The couple was found in their east Boise home by officers early Monday morning after an out of town family member called police asking officers to check on their welfare. Officers found the 89 year old woman deceased. Officers found the 90 year old man still alive, but with significant, life threatening injuries. He was transported immediately to a nearby hospital where he later died.
   Detectives did find weapons at the scene, including a handgun. The investigation at the scene itself has been completed and the home turned over the couple's family.
   In a release issued this afternoon, the Ada County Coroner has identified the couple as Mildred "Millie" Shelley, 89, and Harold "Bill" Shelley, 90, of the 200 blk of Arrowrock Lane. The coroner found Mildred's cause of death to be blunt force trauma of the head with the manner being homicide. The coroner found Mr. Shelley's death to be a gunshot wound to the head with the manner being suicide.
   The investigation continues. Boise Police detectives and victim-witness coordinators are working with the couple's family and do not anticipate the further release of additional details.

  Boise, Aug. 11, 2009 - Boise Police continue to investigate the death of an elderly Boise woman, found early yesterday in her East Boise home.
   Overnight, the elderly man found with her also died of his injuries.
   Boise Police and the Ada County Coroner are just beginning the autopsy investigation on the woman.
   The coroner is expected to confirm the identities of the deceased, and help provide investigators answers and to the cause of death.
    Boise Police were called by an out of town family member of the residents of a townhome on the 200 blk. of Arrowrock Lane in East Boise at 7:56 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10th, and asked to do a welfare check on the residents.  
   When officers arrived at the home, they found a deceased elderly woman with injuries that immediately appeared suspicious. An elderly man was also found with what appeared to be significant, life threatening injuries.
   Officers also found a weapon on scene.
   The elderly man was rushed to a nearby hospital.
   Although early in the investigation, officers do not have reason to believe there is any ongoing threat to the surrounding community connected to this incident.
