Boise July 17th, 2009 - Heroin Trafficking charges top the overnight arrests in the City of Boise
Arrested: Brenton M. Forney, 18, Boise
Charges: Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Heroin)(F)
Boise Police Narcotics Unit Detectives (BANDIT) arrested Brenton Forney yesterday (July 16th) on Capital Blvd near Battery Street at approximately 3:30 p.m. after he sold three grams of Heroin to an undercover Detective. Boise Police Detectives later seized 18 more grams of heroin, $3000.00 and a handgun in the suspect's apartment on the 900 block of South Dale Street. The estimated street value of the heroin seized is $4200.00. BANDIT has been investigating Forney for two months after receiving a tip he was selling heroin. BANDIT was assisted by Boise Neighborhood Contact Officers during this arrest. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges. The investigation is ongoing and more charges may be pending.
Trafficking in a Controlled Substance - Those convicted of Trafficking Heroin of not less that 7 grams and not more that 28 grams shall be sentenced to a mandatory minimum fixed term of imprisonment of 10 years and fined not less than $15,000.
The BANDIT Task Force investigates gambling, prostitution and illegal drug use. The Task Force includes Detectives from the Boise Police Department, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms agency and the Idaho National Guard, working as part of a multi-jurisdictional task force called B.A.N.D.I.T. (Boise Area Narcotics and Drug Interdiction Task Force), commissioned to protect the community from illegal drug activity.
