06-24-09 Burglary charges top overnight arrests

    Boise June 24th, 2009- Multiple unrelated Burglary charges top the overnight arrests in the City of Boise

  Arrested: Nicholas T. Miranda, 26, Boise

   Charges: Burglary (F),

    Boise Police responded to a Burglary on the 2600 block of Federal Way early this morning (June 24th) just after midnight. Multiple witnesses say the suspect, later identified as Nicholas Miranda, was seen pulling open a door at the closed convenience store and going inside. The man was then seen a few moments later leaving the store with a 30 pack of beer. Witnesses followed the suspect vehicle as they called police and the suspect was located a short time later on the corner of Targee and Federal way drinking beer. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

    Arrested: Robin A. Lewis, 35, Boise

    Charges: Burglary (F)

    Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on the 8300 block of West Franklin yesterday (June 23rd) at approximately 12:30 p.m. Store employees tell police that they witnessed the suspect, later identified as Robin Lewis, conceal several clothing and personal items and then left the store without paying for them. Police officers believe the woman entered the store with the intent to commit the theft resulting in the burglary charge. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

    The Boise Police Organized Retail Crime Unit has developed a positive, productive working relationship with loss prevention agents from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal of the BPD Organized Retail Crime Unit is to work with retailers to reduce theft and fraud, crimes that can impact consumer prices.

    Arrested: Michael T. Murphy, 28, no known address

    Charges: Burglary (F)

    Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a restaurant on the 400 block of South 8th Street yesterday (June 23rd) at approximately 5:43 p.m. Restaurant employees tell police that the suspect, later identified as Michael Murphy, ate a meal at the restaurant and then left without paying for the food. Boise Police located the man a short distance from the restaurant. Officers believe the man entered the store with the intent to commit the theft resulting in the burglary charge. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

    Warrant Arrested: Matthew D. Smith, 29, Meridian

    Warrant Charges: Burglary (F)

    Matthew Smith was taken into custody yesterday (June 23rd) on the 500 block of West Pack Avenue in Meridian on an outstanding Felony Burglary Warrant.

    The warrant charges stem from an incident that took place in December of last year. During that time, victims tell police that someone entered a vacant property and stolen a gas stove from the kitchen. Boise Police detectives working with the victims located the stove for sale online and traced the property back to the suspect. That information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorneys office resulting in the Felony Warrant.
