06-17-09 Burglary Grand Theft and Drug charges top overnight arrests

Boise June 17th, 2009 - Burglary Grand Theft and Drug charges top overnight arrests in the City of Boise.

  Arrested: Steven R. Stapleton, 31, Boise

   Charges: Burglary (F), Grand Theft (F), Resisting and Obstructing (m)

    Boise Police on patrol in the area of Fairview and Curtis early this morning (June 17th) at approximately 1:25 a.m. observed a bicycle rider cross Fairview with no forward facing light or rear reflector. The marked unit pulled in behind the suspect and the officer attempted to stop the rider with his overhead emergency lights. The suspect, later identified as Steven Stapleton, turned into a parking lot and began to speed up. The officer then activated his siren in an attempt to stop the rider and turned his spot light on the rider. The suspect kept going and proceeded behind a closed business around the corner. Officer observed the suspect hop off of the bike and toss an object over the fence. Boise Police Officers retrieved the bag they had seen the suspect toss over the fence and recovered a laptop computer. Officers determined that the laptop had been stolen during a vehicle burglary that had taken place overnight on the 1300 block of North Curtis. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

  Arrested: Michael K. Nugent, 30, Boise

   Charges: Possession with intent to deliver (Meth & Marijuana) (F), Possession of drug paraphernalia (m)

    Boise Police, following up on an unrelated investigation, stopped the suspect last night (June 16th) at approximately 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Five Mile and Plazzo street. Officers received a consent to search the vehicle from the suspect, later identified as Michael Nugent. In the vehicle  police found scales, weights and packaging materials. Officers also discovered a plastic  bag with 8.2 grams of Meth and a plastic bag containing 11 grams of Marijuana. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

  Arrested: Nick L. Renick, 23, Boise

   Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth & Marijuana) Probation Violation Charges

    Boise Police made a traffic stop on a vehicle with cancelled plates yesterday morning (June 16th) at approximately 10:30 a.m. near Lemhi and Hervey streets. During the stop officers were given false identifying information and observed the suspect appeared to be hiding something in his clothes. When officers searched the suspect, later identified as Nick Renick, they discovered a plastic bag with meth in his pants and other baggies of meth in the vehicle with a total of 11 grams of meth. Officers also recovered a bag of Marijuana with a total weight of 1 gram. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges. Other charges will likely be added at a later time.

  Arrested: Jennifer A. Spencer, 20, Boise

   Charges: Burglary (F), possession of drug paraphernalia (m)

    Boise Police responded to a report of shoplifting at a retail store on the 400 block of North Milwaukee yesterday (June 16th) at approximately 7:40 p.m. Store employees tell police that they witnessed the suspect, later identified as Jennifer Spencer, conceal several clothing items and then left the store without paying for them. Police officers believe the woman entered the store with the intent to commit the theft resulting in the burglary charge. When officers searched the suspect, they discovered a marijuana pipe and a plastic baggie with residue inside. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

    The Boise Police Organized Retail Crime Unit has developed a positive, productive working relationship with loss prevention agents from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal of the BPD Organized Retail Crime Unit is to work with retailers to reduce theft and fraud, crimes that can impact consumer prices.

  Arrested: Lisa E. Bolton, 31, Boise

   Charges: Possession of a controlled substance (Meth)(F)

    Boise Police and the BANDIT task force arrested Lisa Bolton yesterday (June 16th) in a parking lot near the intersection of Fairview and Locust Grove in Meridian at approximately 3:30 p.m. The suspect is involved in an ongoing investigation, during which officers purchased a half ounce of meth from her. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

Warrant Arrested: Travis H. Fulgham, 20, Boise

Warrant Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance (F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

    Travis Fulgham was taken into custody at the Ada County Jail yesterday on an outstanding felony warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

    The arrest warrant stems from an incident that took place on March 5th, 2009 at approximately 8:58 a.m. On that date Boise Police Neighborhood Contact Officers, following up on tips from neighbors, received consent to search a home on the 4000 bock of Denton Street. Officers located approximately 5 grams of Meth and a small amount of marijuana. That information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrant.
