02-06-09 Arrests for Marijuana Trafficking

    Boise, Feb. 6, 2009 - Boise Police arrested two people early this morning after they were found bringing in several pounds of marijuana to Boise from Oregon.

    Arrested: Justin C. Buchanan, 27, Nampa

    Charged: Trafficking Marijuana (F), 4 cts. Delivery of the Controlled Substance (F)

    Arrested: Ami L. Wagner, 23, Nampa

    Charged: Trafficking Marijuana (F)

    The Investigation: Detectives with the Boise Police BANDIT Task Force began investigating Buchanan in mid-January. The investigation began when detectives gathered evidence that Buchanan was selling marijuana to other dealers, who then sold to users.

    In recent weeks, Boise Police undercover officers have purchased marijuana from Buchanan, on several occasions. 

    Last night, approx 8:00 p.m. officers intercepted him on his way toward Boise from Burns, Oregon. He and Wagner were stopped by Boise Police Detectives in Meridian. They were found with approx. four pounds of marijuana in their vehicle. The marijuana carries an approx. street value of $18,000.

    Boise Police Detectives appreciate the assistance of deputies in Harney County, Oregon, and officers with the High Desert Drug Task Force (west Treasure Valley). This investigation is continuing.
