06-16-08 UPDATE: Graffiti Arrest

UPDATE: Boise, June 16, 2008, 2:50 p.m. - Boise Police Neighborhood Contact Officers say additional charges against suspect Solomon Sahlein are pending. Officers investigating graffiti reports in neighborhoods all over the city say Sahlein is a suspect in several reported graffiti crimes since last fall. Investigating officers believe Sahlein may be an associate of taggers arrested last December (see news release issued Dec. 14, 2007 at www.boisepolice.org). Anyone with further information on graffiti crimes that may be linked to this suspect are urged to call crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.

Suspect: Solomon H. Sahlein, 19, Boise

Charges: Malicious Injury to Property (F), Illegal Possession of Alcohol (m), Disorderly Conduct (m)

What Happened: Early this morning, approx. 12:54 a.m., Boise Police were called to a business on the 4300 blk of Industrial on a possible trespass. A witness noticed a suspicious person reported the incident. When officers arrived, they saw, what appeared to be freshly painted graffiti on a nearby train car. They found a man laying underneath a train car. Among other evidence, officers found a black bag near where the suspect had been laying. The bag contained cans of spray paint and alcohol. The owner of the train car says the damage is estimated at $2,000.

Officers would like to thank the alert witness, a man who works in the area and quickly called police after noticing something out of the ordinary for that location and time of the morning.
