ORIGINAL RELEASE FOLLOWS---------------------

Boise May 14th, 2008 - A pursuit took place overnight and Boise Police are looking for the driver of a motor home. At approximately 10:30 PM last night a Boise Police Officer attempted to stop a Dodge motor home after the driver failed to maintain his lane on the corner of Commerce and Development near the interstate. The officer followed the vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle using his emergency lights. The driver failed to yield to emergency lights and continued down Northbound on Broadway at approximately 35 mph as officers followed.

Near Linden street, an officer on foot was attempting to place a spike strip in the road to end the low speed pursuit when the driver of the motor home swerved at the officer narrowly missing him. The vehicle then turned onto Linden street going east and again onto Leadville. At this point the driver sped up drastically to an estimated 50 miles per hour. The motor home ran several stop signs, and for safety reasons the pursuit was discontinued.

A short time later, a citizen on the 200 block of  Schmeizer street called dispatch and reported the motor home was stuck in his front yard. Officers conducted an area search and did not locate the suspect at the scene. Officers are working to positively identify the suspect who abandoned the vehicle. The motor home has been impounded.

Charges: The suspect may face several charges including felony eluding, felony aggravated assault on a police officer.

At this time no further information is available in this case. Anyone with further information is urged to call crime stoppers at 343-COPS.
