03-26-08 UPDATE: Rape Investigation

    Boise, March, 26, 2008 - Boise Police have been advised that the elderly victim in a violent weekend attack has been released from a local hospital. Her family, however, respectfully asks that further information on her continued care and recovery be kept private.

    Several concerned citizens have called the Boise Police Department and the Officer of Boise's Mayor asking where they can send well wishes to the victim. The victim and her family have told officers they've been touched and greatly appreciate the outpouring of prayers and well wishes from the community.

    The Mayor's Office has graciously agreed to assist Boise PD in being a collection site for well wishes. Please send cards to:

    The cards will be collected by a Boise Police Victim-Witness advocate and given to the victim and her family.    

    The investigation into this crime continues to be very active, with a team of officers working to uncover and follow leads.

Original Release:

Boise March 22nd, 2008 - At approximately 3:44 AM this morning officers and emergency personnel where dispatched to a residence in the area of Vista and Overland, in an East Bench neighborhood. Officers located an elderly female who had been beaten and raped in the home. The victim tells police that she was awakened by an adult male who had broken into her home at roughly 3:30 AM. The man raped, and then beat her before she was able to call for help. The adult male fled the residence on foot. Officers conducted an immediate search of the area for the suspect. The elderly female was transported to the hospital with what appeared at the time to be non life threatening injuries. Boise Police victim witness experts and Boise Detectives are working with the victim at this time.

The suspect is described as an adult white male, 25 to 35 years of age, thin build, with short dark brown or black hair. No further description is available at this time.
