03-06-08 Super Sports Saturday! Officers, BSU Football Heroes, Celebrities Face off in Fun but Fierce Fundraisers!

    Boise, March 6, 2008 - Two exciting sporting competitions are set for this Saturday, both to raise money for terrific community causes. 

    One event, the Bigs ‘n Blue Basketball Tourney is Saturday afternoon.

    The Crime Stoppers Celebrity Volleyball game is Saturday evening. The public and media are invited to both to watch the fun and help the cause!

Bigs ‘n Blue Basketball Tournament:

Where: Mountain View High, Meridian

When: Saturday, March 8, 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Tickets: $2 for adults, children 8 and under are free.

    Law enforcement and emergency service agencies compete against each other for bragging rights and help raise money for the Bigs ‘n Blue program. 

    Bigs ‘n Blue sponsors several yearly events for children on the waiting list for a Big Brother or Big Sister in the community. Teams include Boise PD, Nampa Fire, Boise Fire, Idaho State Police, Ada County SO, Boise City and Ada County Prosecutors.


Crime Stoppers Celebrity Volleyball Game:

Where: Sawtooth Middle School, Meridian

When: Saturday, March 8, 6:00 p.m.

    BSU Football Heroes competing include (updated from last release):

    Ryan Clady -  BSU Alum/ 2008 NFL Alum

    Ia Falo - BSU Special Teams

    Legedu Naanee - BSU Alum/San Diego Chargers

    Jerard Rabb - BSU Alum/San Francisco 49ers

    Plus “local celebrity” players from area TV and radio stations!

Tickets: $35 family pass includes 2 adults, 6 kids under 15.

            $15 Single pass includes 1 adult or 2 kids under $15.    

    The Crime Stoppers Celebrity Volleyball game helps raise money for the Boise Area Crime Stoppers program, which assists many local law enforcement agencies in receiving citizens tips that help solve crimes.

    In 2007, Boise area Crime Stoppers took more than 4,000 citizen calls, which resulted in 57 arrests and rewards given out of more than $8,000.
