01-07-08 Meth Trafficking Arrest

01-07-08 Meth Trafficking Arrest

Boise, Jan. 7, 2008 - Boise Police have arrested a man for trafficking meth after officers found the drug during a traffic stop.

Arrested: Donald Troy Nelson, 43, Boise

Charges: Trafficking Methamphetamine (f), False Personation (m)

What Happened: Shortly after midnight this morning, officers on patrol spotted a vehicle weaving in and out of traffic lanes on the 6500 blk of State St. A patrol lieutenant stopped the driver of the car and found evidence to indicate the possibility of drugs in the vehicle. A BPD K9 was called and the dog helped locate what turned out to be approx. 113 grams of meth in the vehicle.

Detectives from the Boise Police BANDIT task force (the vice-narcotics unit) were called. Officers served a search warrant on Nelson's east Boise home and found an additional 28 grams of meth, evidence of drug sales, and approx. $14,000 in cash.

BANDIT Detectives estimate the street value of the meth at approx. $13,000.

While at Nelson's home, officers also found evidence that Nelson had given them a false name and birth date upon his initial arrest.
