Boise, Oct. 2, 2007 - Wednesday, Oct. 3 is International Walk to School Day, promoting safe walking and bicycling routes for children.

Boise Police, in partnership with local schools and St. Luke's Children's Hospital, will be providing extra patrols around school zones as children, many accompanied by parents, walk to school Wednesday morning.

Motorists are reminded to watch for flashing yellow lights and to slow to 20 mph while driving through a school zone. Motorists exceeding the speed limit risk a citation. The fine for speeding in a school zone is $141.50.
