Man Arrested for Battering Motorcyclist while Driving Drunk
Boise, 24, 2007 - Boise Police arrested a man last night for allegedly driving drunk, crashing into the back of a motorcycle, then attempting to push the motorcycle and it's driver into oncoming traffic.
Arrested: Parker M. Crumb, 42, Boise
Charges: DUI, Aggravated Battery, Leaving the Scene of an Accident
What Happened: Officers were called to an injury accident at approx. 8:36 p.m. last night near Emerald and Orchard. When officers arrived, numerous witnesses reported seeing a man in a pick up driving fast and recklessly northbound on Orchard. Witnesses told officers the driver of the pick up rear-ended a motorcycle. A passenger on the motorcycle was able to jump off as, witnesses say, the driver of the pick up accelerated, with the motorcycle still stuck to the grill of the pick up. The truck pushed the bike and it's driver toward oncoming traffic. The driver of the motorcycle, a young man from Meridian, was able to jump off just as the bike crashed on Stanley St. The driver of the pick up then left the scene. The driver of the motorcycle suffered what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Responding officers located the front license plate of the truck at the accident scene. Also, as officers were investigating, they were informed by police dispatchers that the owner of the pick up had just called to report the truck stolen. Officers made contact with the pick up's owner, later identified as Crumb. Officers noticed Crumb smelled strongly of alcohol. After some investigation, officers arrested Crumb on the above charges.
