Arrest in Death of Infant

    Boise, July 12, 2007 - Boise Police have arrested a man for murder after his infant son was pronounced dead at a Boise hospital early this morning.

   Arrested: Raymond Ortiz III, 22, Boise

    Charged: Murder

    What Happened: Boise Police were called to an apartment complex at Cole & Ustick at 11:48 p.m. Wednesday night to assist Ada County Paramedics with the case of a child who was not breathing. When officers arrived they found the child, a 6 week old baby boy unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at a Boise hospital.

    After investigating throughout the night, officers have arrested the child's father for 1st degree Murder. The suspect was booked into the Ada County Jail at approx. 7:30 this morning.

    Boise Police have been told an autopsy is scheduled for today on the child. Further information on the cause of death will be determined by the Ada County Coroner.

    The suspect, Mr. Ortiz, will be scheduled for arraignment in 4th district Court tomorrow (Friday, June 13th).
