UPDATE: Hit & Run Fatal Accident

      Boise, March 27, 2007 - UPDATE: Sadly, the victim in the March 18th, 2007 hit & run accident has died. The victim succumbed to his injuries at a Boise hospital late yesterday afternoon. Details of the accident follow in the original news release.

      Officers continue to follow leads but have not yet identified the vehicle or driver involved in this serious accident.

      Detectives believe the vehicle involved is likely a '98 - '01 model Volkswagen Passat, dark colored with damage to the front and windshield. Officers are, once again, making the plea for anyone with any information on the car or driver, to please call Crime Stoppers as detectives continue to try and piece together exactly what happened.

      Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to a resolution in this case. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS, or, if out of the Boise area 1-800-222-TIPS.

      The victim's identity or further information on cause of death will be confirmed by the Ada County Coroner.

Boise, March 18, 2007 – The Boise Police Department is investigating a vehicle/pedestrian accident that occurred early this morning.

Officers were called to the scene of a collision at 03:24 a.m. Investigators say it appears a male adult was crossing Idaho Street on foot near 15th Street when he was struck by a passenger car that was traveling West on Idaho Street. The pedestrian was severely injured, and was transported to a local hospital. The vehicle fled the scene. Officers recovered debris on the roadway from a Volkswagen Passat, and are pursuing leads from that evidence. However, they need help in locating the driver and vehicle involved.
