Investigation Continues in Normandie St. Homicide

Detectives Looking for Two More Potential Pieces of Evidence

Boise, Feb. 1, 2007 - Boise Police Detectives continue to investigate a homicide reported Thursday, Jan. 25th at a home on the 3700 blk. of Normandie. Officers are asking for the public's help in locating two more potential pieces of evidence; a weapon and a witness.

Potential Witness: Detectives say a potential witness may have had contact with the murder suspect early the morning of Jan. 25th on Milwaukee Street, between Emerald and Fairview, possibly near the Barnes & Noble Book Store.

Officers believe the suspect in the crime, Ethan Windom, 16, murdered his mother at her home, then walked to Milwaukee Street, and about 5:00 a.m. may have been given a ride to Cloverdale & Camas by a passing motorist. Detectives do not believe the motorist is a witness to the crime, but may have talked with the suspect and may have information that may help the investigation.

Possible Weapon: Officers are also searching for a knife that may have been one of the weapons used in the crime. It's believed the suspect may have discarded the knife in the area of Cole Rd beneath the I-184 overpass. Despite an extensive search by officers using metal detectors, the weapon has not been located.

The knife is a butterfly knife with a brown handle, and a blade approx. 4" long. The attached photo is of a knife that may look similar to the knife police are searching for.

The possible witness and weapon are two potential leads in the investigation that officers need to take every step to track down. If anyone has any information on the motorists who may be a witness, or the location of the knife, they're urged to call Boise Police Detectives at 373-5406.
