Boise PD on "COPS"

Boise PD on "COPS"

Boise, March 7, 2007 – Three more upcoming segments of COPS, the popular law enforcement reality show, will feature Boise Police Officers. The next Boise segment is set to air this Saturday, March 10th, with additional Boise segments now scheduled for March 17th and March 24th.

“The COPS TV show will give viewers a chance to see Boise Police Officers fielding every day calls that are always interesting, sometimes exciting and occasionally dangerous, but otherwise don't make headlines,” said Chief Michael Masterson.

“The COPS segments is a unique opportunity for our department to take Boiseans on a virtual ride along with patrol officers to see some of the events that we at the Police Department call ‘routine’, and how professionally our officers handle those calls on a daily basis.”

The following COPS segments are now scheduled to air on KTRV FOX 12:

Mar 10, 7:00 p.m. - featuring Boise Police Officer Chris Rogers. The segment features Officer Rogers responding to a call of a lost 5 year old boy and reuniting him with his parents.

March 17th, 7:00 p.m. - featuring Boise Police Officer John Mathis. The segment is the officers follow up after locating those involved in a reported suspicious circumstance.

March 24th, 7:00 p.m. - featuring Boise Police Officer Brian Jones. The segment follows Officer Jones as he responded to a report of a fight in a local park.

Each Boise COPS segment is one of three featured each show from a different city around the nation. Check the COPS web site at www.cops.com for more on each episode.

Background: COPS began taping in Boise in mid-July, 2006 and finished their stay eight weeks later in mid-September. Two COPS crews, a cameraman and a sound engineer traveled with officers 40 hours each week, mainly on “swing” and night shifts, from approx 4:00 p.m. - 4:00 a.m.

In all, COPS taped 11 segments in Boise last summer. Two aired beginning in mid-February. The remaining segments do not currently have a scheduled air date. Reruns of COPS air frequently on Court TV.
