Arrest in Homicide

Boise, January 25, 2007, 6:45 p.m. - Boise Police have arrested and charged a 16 year old male with 1st degree Murder in connection with the death of his 42 year old mother.

Officers are calling the case a family tragedy.

      Arrested: Ethan Windom, 16, Boise

      Charged: 1st degree Murder

What Happened:   For police, the case began at 5:40 this morning when officers were called to conduct a welfare check at a home on the 3700 blk. of Normandie. The call came into police from the home of the suspect's father. Information given during that phone call indicated foul play may be involved. As patrol officers went to the home on Normandie, officers also went to the suspect's father's home on the 11000 blk of Camas.

Officers arriving at the Normandie address received no answer at the door, became concerned and entered the home. Officers then found the body of a woman lying in a bedroom. She had obvious injuries that indicated foul play.

Officers at the Camas address then took the victim's 16 year old son to the Boise Police facility on Clinton Street for questioning, based on witness statements of his possible involvement.

Throughout the day detectives have been investigating the incident to determine just what happened. Detectives now believe the suspect killed the victim sometime overnight while she slept in her home. then walked to his father's house. The suspect alerted his father that something was wrong with his mother and the father alerted police.

Police have recovered two weapons in the Normandie Dr. home that detectives believe were used in the crime. However, at this point detective believe more weapons may have been involved. Until officers discover more about the weapons used, the nature of the weapons is not being released at this time.
