National Night Out
Boise, August 1, 2006 - Boise Neighborhoods will celebrate National Night Out tonight and Boise citizens have several things to celebrate this year; a drop in recent crime rates, honoring military families who have returned from Iraq over the past year, and the traditional celebration of neighbors working together to fight crime!
Police Chief Michael Masterson will join several neighborhood gatherings, along with Mayor Dave Bieter and General Lafrenz from Gowen Field.
Tonights schedule for the Chief, Mayor is as follows:
4:30 - Applebees at Eagle & Fairview. This is a multi agency event kicking off National Night Out including Boise PD, Boise fire, Meridian PD, Meridian Fire and the Ada County Sheriff's Office. The BPD group will stay at Applebees until approx. 5:30 p.m.
6:15 p.m. Morris Hill Neighborhood event - 408 N. Garden. Ceremony at 6:20 p.m.honoring military, including a bagpipe band, brief speeches by the General, Mayor, Chief and certificates will be given to the military honorees. The BPD group will be at the Morris Hill gathering until approx. 7:00 p.m.
7:20 p.m. Kangaroo Ct., Pierce Park Neighborhood. Small neighborhood with several military families. Again, speeches by Gen, Mayor, Chief. Will stay 'til approx. 7:45 p.m.
8:10 p.m. Belmont Park Neighborhood - Ceremony at 9900 block of Secretariat.
