Officers Search for Bank Robbery Suspect
Boise, June 1, 2006 – 2:21 pm - Boise Police are searching for a man who robbed a Washington Federal Savings & Loan at Cole and Ustick today. This robbery occurred at approximately 1:00 PM this afternoon.
Detectives confirm a unknown number of shots where fired during the robbery. No one was injured. “It appears the suspect was firing to intimidate people inside the bank. This was a very dangerous, violent robbery.” Said Sgt Mark Barnett of the Boise Police Department.
The suspect did get away with an undisclosed amount of money. He was carrying a handgun. Approximately six people where inside the bank at the time of the robbery. The suspect is described as a smaller to medium build male with blonde hair wearing a blue jogging suit and some type of head covering, possibly grey. He was last seen on foot southbound on Cole.
An immediate police search of the area did not turn up the suspect. Detectives ask if anyone saw anything suspicious in the area of Cole and Ustick around 1:00 PM please call CrimeStoppers at 343-COPS.
Boise Schools confirmed to Boise Police that four area schools, Mountain View Elementary, Cole Elementary, Fairmont Jr High and South Jr High where on lock down as a precaution immediately after the robbery. The lock down lasted approximately 30 minutes until officers had searched the area.
