Idaho Law Enforcement Teams Up for Torch Run for Special Olympics
*** Editors , This event will be covered and distributed as a VNR/MP3 release since it is occurring at the same time as the Inauguration of Governor Jim Risch.
Police Officers from all over Idaho are teaming up for a weekend of activities to raise awareness and money for Southwest Idaho Special Olympians.
Tomorrow morning, officers from some 17 different law enforcement and emergency response agencies from all over Idaho will join together for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. The officers will be greeted at noon at Boise City Hall by Special Olympians and several groups of school children.
The City Hall ceremony will also include a check presentation from the Boise Police Association to Special Olympics.
Following the Torch Run, dozens of officers will show their community "service" in a different way - by being guest "servers" at the Milwaukee Ave. Red Lobster. All the tips collected by the officers will go to Special Olympics. This annual fundraiser usually brings in about $5,000 for the athletes.
