Burg Arrest Artis

Boise, May 9, 2006 – Boise Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with two home burglaries and a car theft. He also faces drug and escape charges after his arrest yesterday.

Arrested: Patrick Artis, 20, Boise Charged: Burglary (2 cts), Grand Theft, Escape, Resisting & Obstructing Officers (M), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M).

Background - Burglary Charges: Artis was wanted in connection with two recent home burglaries. One occurred about three weeks ago in Columbia Village where the suspect entered through an open garage door. A bicycle, skateboard and several scooters were taken.

The second occurred May 3rd at a home near Fairview & Curtis. The suspect entered through an open back door, stealing two purses and some car keys from inside the home. An SUV was also stolen.

R & O, Possession Charges: Artis was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over for a traffic stop shortly after 9:00 a.m. Monday, May 8th.

As officers pulled over that vehicle at 13th & Fort Streets, Artis ran. After a short foot pursuit, he was taken into custody. At the time of his arrest, he was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Felony Escape Charges: Later, as Artis was being placed into a patrol car after being  interviewed by detectives, Artis ran again. After a short foot pursuit he was taken into custody and transported to the Ada County Jail.

*** please note: Artis was named as a person of interest in a robbery that occurred April 20th. Another person was arrested in that case and detectives do not suspect Artis of any involvement. None of the above charges are related to the April 20th incident.
