Persuit Arrest

Boise, April 25, 2006 – Boise Police arrested the driver of a car this morning after the vehicle tried to ram one police car and hit another.

Arrested: Lazarus J. Moon, 18, Boise

Charged: Eluding a Police Officer (F), Resisting Obstructing (M), Aggravated Assault (F), Malicious Injury to Property (F).

What Happened: Boise Police responded to a call initially in Ada County at approx

4:15 a.m., up Bogus Basin Road of possible shots fired from a vehicle. While investigating, the driver of a vehicle possibly involved would not pull over in response to officers lights and sirens.

Officers say the vehicle was traveling approx. 30 mph. Officers deployed stop sticks on Bogus Basin Rd., which the vehicle drove over, but the driver of the grey 2005 Hundai Accent, later identified as Moon, continued on despite major tire damage.

At Bogus Basin Road near Curling, the driver of the vehicle, swerved into the lane of an oncoming police car. That officer had to quickly drive out of the way to avoid being hit by the suspect vehicle.

The suspect continued to drive south on Harrison Blvd. at approx. 20 mph, officers say narrowly missing several parked cars as the vehicle was becoming difficult to control due to tire damage.

At 21st and Lemp Streets, at a very slow speed, an officer bumped the suspect vehicle with his own patrol car in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The suspect vehicle did stop, but faced a second patrol car, which the suspect vehicle then accelerated into and hit, causing minor damage.

The second patrol car carried a police K9. The dog was deployed on the suspect and aided in the

arrest.

Two passengers inside the suspect vehicle were also charged: Elysse Taylor, 18, Boise and Anthony Field, 19 of Boise face misdemeanor charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The investigation is continuing.
