Boise, March 7, 2005 – Boise Police Chief Michael Masterson was joined by Mayor Dave Bieter this morning in swearing in three new officers.
The three officer all have prior law enforcement experience, one from Eastern Idaho, one from Southern California and one from Indiana.
The three new hires bring Boise Police to 277 sworn officers. The department is authorizes for 289, so 12 openings exists.
BPD currently has 16 officers in different stages of the training process; 6 officers graduate from the Idaho POST Academy this Friday, 7 officers are just beginning the Field Training program.
“I’m very pleased with how the hiring process is moving ahead,” said Chief Masterson. “The new officers being hired are top quality, many bring excellent prior law enforcement experience. These officers will continue the top quality of service the Boise Police Department brings to the citizens of Boise.”
The three new officers are:
• Andrew Linn, 23, most recently from Pocatello, formerly with Idaho State University Campus
• Wayne Nicholson, 31, Oceanside, California
• Joe Kain, 27, West Lafayette, Indiana.
