BMW Thefts

BMW Thefts

Boise, February 2, 2005 – Boise Police have arrested three men believed responsible for stealing three BMW’s from a Boise car lot.

All three were found driving the BMW’s stolen from the car lot over the past ten days.

Detectives say all the suspects are aquainted and appeared to be driving the stolen cars for their own personal use.

One man, Jason Waidelich, was arrested by Patrol Officers last Friday after a call about a suspicious vehicle.

Further investigation led detectives to two other suspects. One suspect, Donald Koski, was arrested after crashing the vehicle into the IHOP restaurant. It appears the crash occurred while Koski was driving at a high rate of speed trying to get away from an officer about to pull him over for speeding. Two passengers were in the car this morning. None were hurt. One passenger, Michael Munoz, 22 of Nampa was arrested for Providing False Information to Police after the accident. Munoz is not, at this time, linked to the BMW thefts.

The third suspect, Raymond Simmons, was arrested after a brief foot pursuit this morning in the neighborhood near Milwaukee and Northview. Simmons was spotted by officers driving the third stolen BMW.

Officers were aware that the suspects in this case were very likely to drive dangerously if pursued by police. So detectives waited until they could arrest Simmons on foot. He did run when he saw officers, but was chased down a short distance later.

Simmons was driving the same BMW spotted by patrol officers yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, 2/1) with suspicious license plates. That vehicle fled from officers at a high rate of speed in the area of Targhee and Latah and was not pursued. Indeed, the vehicle also had a stolen license plate.

Exactly how the cars were stolen and other details are still under investigation.
