Detectives ID Bank Robbery Suspect
Boise, Jan. 4, 2005 – Boise Police Detectives have identified a man wanted for robbing the Key Bank at 4920 Overland last month.
The bank was robbed late in the afternoon on Dec. 16th by a man who showed a teller a note demanding cash. He was described as a white man in his 40's, 6', 180 lbs, medium build, with short brown hair beneath a dark baseball cap with USA on the front.
Detectives were able to identify a suspect after some investigation, and thanks to tips received after a surveillance photo was shown on local media.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Faron Hawkins, 47. The warrant carries a bond of $500,000 with extradition anywhere in the U.S.
Hawkins was charged with robbing a bank in Horseshoe Bend in 1978. He does have family in southern Idaho and a lengthy criminal record. At this time, Hawkins is not connected to any other recent bank robbery in Boise.
